In October of last year the Space Shuttle Endeavor alighted a Nasa jumbo jet at LAX to make its 12-mile journey though the streets of LA to the California Science Center in Exposition Park. We rode our bikes at 2 in the morning to ogle in awe at the Endeavor when it was stuck on the corner of Crenshaw/Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. In this image from 1984, a brontosaurus is delivered by helicopter to its new home in the Boston Museum of Science…I was only 3 years old and living in Taiwan at that time, but it definitely would have been wondrous to look up and see a dino in the sky!

remember when we were kids and all we would order was rainbow sherbet and bubblegum? Now I get flavors like “Manchego cheese and quince” and “gingersnap with oro blanco” (Sweet Rose Creamery). I’m glad to have traded the food coloring and artificial flavoring for a more complicated but natural taste palate.
